About the event
Shortly after 11:30 PM captain Smith's First Officer, Bill Murphy, was found dead in his cabin with a rope tied tightly around his neck. He lay face down on the carpet. His tea service was smashed and in disarray on the floor. The body was discovered by Mr. Ismay.

A Titanic medical examiner explained that the death was possibly due to a special 'hog-tie' that caused asphyxiation. This is an unusual knot, not known by many. More evidence will be available soon.
